NuRoomz Garage Conversions Turning your unusable space into a new room |
Handy Information for Garage Conversions |
There are certain things that need to be taken into consideration before making the commitment to convert your garage. NuRoomz offers help and advice to all of our clients along the way and will happily work with you and your local planning and building regulations department. You may need an architect to make your plans. This is essential so the work is undertaken according to your needs. We can provide you with contact details of local architects that we have worked with before, should you wish. The majority of garage conversions do not require planning permission. However it is essential to check with your local authority before any work commences. Some restrictions apply to houses that have been built within the last 20 years, stating that garages must be retained for parking purposes (please check your deeds). These restrictions can often be addressed and rectified with the assistance of your local planning department. All conversions need to abide by Building Regulations. This will involve a building inspector visiting the site several times during construction. We use the correct tradesmen for each part of the build (qualified plumbers, qualified gas safety engineers and Part P qualified electricians). If you are unsure of any aspect of getting your garage converted, or need help and advice, we are happy to offer this free of charge to all our clients, as we understand that major building works can be daunting. |
